The 12 Projects of Christmas 2023: Project #7 Vellum Card

We don't often think about using Vellum cardstock for our card bases, but man, does it add a touch of elegance! A number of years ago I received a card swap from Demonstrator Beth Tetzlaff that I just had to replicate in Christmas form, and I think it turned out nicely for Project #7.

I started with a piece of Vellum cardstock, measuring 4" x 10 1/2", and I scored it in half at 5 1/4". I cut a piece of 4" x 5 1/4" Very Vanilla cardstock in half diagonally, then adhered strips of 1/4" wide Gold Foil Sheets along the long diagonal edges of the Very Vanilla. I made sure to cut those strips plenty long, then trimmed them down to fit after adhered.

I adhered one of those Very Vanilla triangles to the INSIDE bottom right corner of the vellum, and the other to the OUTSIDE bottom left corner of the vellum.

To cover up the glue I used to adhere the piece on the front side, I diagonal-cut another piece of 4" x 5 1/4" Very Vanilla cardstock so I could use one of those triangles on the back side of that front piece.

I layered a piece of 4" x 5 1/4" Real Red cardstock onto a piece of 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" Shaded Spruce cardstock, then folded my vellum in half before adhering that over the Real Red layer. The vellum softens the Real Red layer and makes the Shaded Spruce base pop with color.

I then decorated the front and insides of the card using the Cottage Wreaths stamp set and Country Wreaths Dies.

On the outside I used mostly just the dies , but I did stamp the little holly leaves in Shaded Spruce ink and die cut them out.

I even lifted each of the little leaves in the wreath to create dimension.

The inside is mostly decorated using the stamps and coordinating dies.

The sentiments I used come from the Stars at Night stamp set, and the berries on the wreaths are made using the Pearlized Enamel Effects Basics - the Real Red.

With our Season Sale coming up Tuesday-Thursday, this is the perfect time to order!

Happy stamping!
