Fun folds are great, but fun folds with a surprise inside are the BEST! I love seeing a card and thinking it's a fantastic card. I love even more opening a card and finding out it's different from the rest. It puts a smile on my face, as I'm sure it does any recipient.
Even making this card made me happy, and every time I open it, I smile.
The card itself is a super simple fun fold. I scored the 4 1/4" x 11" Calypso Coral card base at 4 1/2" and 5 1/2". First fold in half at the 5 1/2" mark, then fold back at the 4 1/2" mark. Adhere that 1" strip between the score marks to the back of the card base.
I cut the You're a Peach Designer Series Paper 4" x 5", then I cut 3/4" off the left edge of the 5" length to put along the "binding" of this book fold card.
The fun sentiment comes from the Nothing's Better Than stamp set and is stamped with Calypso Coral ink on a piece of Basic White cardstock, measuring 2 1/4" x 2 3/4". It's mounted on a piece of 2 1/2" x 3" Pale Papaya cardstock. The "Cocktails" is from the Love You More Than Dies. I adhered some Pale Papaya Shimmer Vellum to an adhesive sheet, cut "Cocktails" out with the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine, peeled off the backing, and stuck it to the Basic White cardstock. I LOVE those Adhesive Sheets!
The inside pop-up is so much easier than it looks! Fold a piece of 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper in half, with the side you want to see inside the fold. Open it back up and fold it in half the other direction. Open it back up again and fold it in half diagonally, this time with the side you want to see on the outside. Open the whole thing up again, push the diagonal folds in, and fold the other folds as they naturally fall, to make a 3" x 3" square.
Adhere the square on the diagonal to the inside of the card, with the opening to the right-hand side.
Then put adhesive on the top of the square and close the card front over it. Open to decorate the pop-up pages as desired. See below a full list of supplies I used to create this card and click the supplies to link to my online store.
I made this card during What's Up! Stampers? on Wednesday, June 9, and have uploaded that video to YouTube. Check it out for a great visual on how to put this card together:
I liked the peach cocktail card so much, that I decided to make another version using the True Love Designer Series Paper and coordinating Foil Sheets and Specialty Designer Series Paper. This will be a card we will make at the Something Out of the Ordinary class on Thursday. Sorry - registration for this class has expired. But cool card, right?
This is a pop-up card I can get on board with! Simple! Make it POP!
Happy Stamping,
Amy
