Before we get to this week’s Technique Spotlight, can we talk about what a GREAT time this is to shop? Stampin’ Up!® is offering DOUBLE REWARDS through Friday! Normally, you earn 10% in Stampin’ Rewards on qualifying orders, but during this promotion you’ll earn twice as much to use toward FREE products on a later order. That means a $100 order earns $20 in rewards instead of $10, and a $200 order earns a whopping $40 instead of $20! I love the idea of using this promotion to purchase the things already on your wish list, then turning around and using those extra rewards for something else you’ve been wanting.

And it gets even better because you can combine those Double Rewards with some pretty fantastic sale prices! Select cardstock and Designer Series Paper are 15% off this month, including the beautiful Moonlit Flora Designer Series Paper I used on today’s card. You can also shop the Clearance Rack while earning Double Rewards—and the Paradise Garden Hybrid Embossing Folder featured on this card is currently on the Clearance Rack! So you can purchase products that are already discounted AND earn twice the rewards to spend on free goodies later. Talk about making your stamping dollars work overtime!
That brings me perfectly to today’s project because it features both of those sale items!
This week’s Technique Spotlight is all about a fun way to make your Designer Series Paper look like it’s floating! The Floating Circle Technique is easy to create, but it adds such a unique element to a card.

I started with six strips of Moonlit Flora Designer Series Paper, each cut at 4" x 1/2". I adhered them to a 4" x 4" piece of Window Sheet, leaving a small space between each strip. Those little gaps are what create the magic! Using the largest circle from the Stylish Shapes Dies, I cut through the entire piece, then popped the circle up with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Because the Window Sheet disappears into the background, the strips appear to float!
And don’t feel like you have to use Designer Series Paper for this technique! Try strips of different colored cardstock for a completely different look, or mix cardstock and Designer Series Paper together. It’s a great opportunity to play with color combinations and use up some scraps, too!
For even more texture, I embossed a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of Peaceful Pine cardstock with the Paradise Garden Hybrid Embossing Folder, then adhered it to my 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" card base, scored and folded at 4 1/4".
For the finishing touches, I used the Fern & Flora Bundle. The leafy accents were cut from the gorgeous In Color Pearlized Specialty Paper in Golden Glow and Peaceful Pine. I stamped the sentiment in Peaceful Pine ink on a coordinating Fern & Flora die-cut label, then added a few Golden Glow Flat Pearls.
Watch here as I create this beautiful card:
I love techniques like this because they look impressive without being difficult—and there are so many ways to make this one your own! And with Moonlit Flora and other select papers on sale, Clearance Rack bargains to discover, AND Double Rewards to earn, this might be the perfect time to pick up a few supplies and give the Floating Circle Technique a try!
Happy creating!
Amy
