I "Shutter" to Think of It

Teehee. It's a play on words because today I'm going to share with you a shutter card I made using products from the August Paper Pumpkin kit. Now, don't get me wrong. All the cards in the August 2021 Paper Pumpkin kit are absolutely gorgeous. But, I do commit every month to creating an alternate project, as I call it. Here are a few things I love about the alternate project:

  • I uses mostly products from the kit, so I don't have to worry about choosing colors or styles

  • The alternate project I come up with is typically a fun-fold card

  • If you're not sure if you're going to like a particular month's kit, I share with you a fun new way to use the supplies i the kit!

  • All of my Paper Pumpkin subscribers can attend a Zoom class for free, where we put the alternate project together. I send any extra supplies (items not in the kit) needed to each class attendee for free as my subscription thank you

I love how Stampin' Up!® co-founder Shelli Gardner designed this kit to not only satisfy our paper crafting wishes but also encourages us to put things that make us happy and hopeful into the pretty box. It's a great concept, and I'm going to take full advantage of the idea.

Shutter cards look so incredibly complicated, but it's surprising how simple we can make putting one together. Here are the items from the kit I used to help make this alternate project a beauty:

I then added four more pieces of cardstock to help make this shutter card what it is.

Blackberry Bliss cardstock:

-5 1/2" x 8 1/2"

Melon Mambo cardstock:

-3 1/4" x 6 1/2", scored 1/2" from each short end

-1 1/4" x 10" for the belly band

Petal Pink cardstock:

-Two pieces 2 3/4" x 3", scored 1/2" from one short end

Here was the final result.

For full instructions, watch here. It's simpler than it looks - I promise!
