Color Combos Set the Tone

Believe it or not, I tend to be drawn to the Neutrals Stampin' Up!® color family. I love how the browns and grays are so warm, and when you add Merry Merlot, Mossy Meadow, and Night of Navy in there, it's definitely a winner, in my book! Look how yummy they are:

That being said, I do often let the Designer Series Papers (DSP) I use dictate my color scheme. But...wouldn't you know, I just love the He's the Man DSP. This DSP includes Basic Black, Early Espresso, and Sahara Sand. Two Neutrals and black, which might as well be a neutral (and also occupies 3/4 of my wardrobe). Throw in a couple Regals (Cajun Craze and Crushed Curry) and one of my favorite In Colors ever (Soft Succulent), and it's perfect.

Because it's so easy for me to fall into the safety of these warm colors, I decided to challenge myself this week, I'd throw together a color combination that is cool and happy. I turned to pages 122 and 123 in the Annual Catalog to choose my colors and came up with these:

Once the colors were chosen, off I went to create! Here are the cards I came up with in my play session.

The more I played the more I fell in love with the color combo.Let's take a look at each card a little more closely.

Thick Basic White cardstock:

-5 1/2" x 8 1/2"

Basic White cardstock:

-Scrap for Stylish Shapes label

-Scrap for Layering Circles Dies circle

Orchid Oasis cardstock:

-Two strips 3/4" x 4"

Orchid Oasis Designer Series Paper:

-3/4" x 4 1/2"

-Sailboat masts (Sailboat Builder Punch)

Polished Pink cardstock:

-Scrap for Stylish Shapes circle

For a full list of supplies I used and links to my online store, see below. Note that I colored the White Seam Binding with the Daffodil Delight Dark Stampin' Blend.

Thick Basic White cardstock:

-4 1/4" x 11"

Basic White cardstock:

-4 1/4" x 5 1/2" for the daisies, roses, and boots (stamp then cut out with the coordinating dies)

-2 1/2" x 5 1/2"

2022-2024 In Color Designer Series Paper:

-4" x 5 1/4"

Daffodil Delight cardstock:

-5 1/2" x 7 1/2", scored at 4 1/4" so the front of the card is 1" short on the right hand side

-4" x 4 1/2" (cut the entire half rainbow from the dies and use smallest arch)

-Basic White cardstock:

-3 3/4" x 5"

-Two clouds from the cloud punch

Orchid Oasis cardstock:

-3 7/8" x 5 1/8"

-4" x 4 1/2" (cut the entire half rainbow and use largest arch)

2022-2024 In Color Glimmer Paper:

-4" x 4 1/2" (cut the entire half rainbow and use second smallest arch)

Polished Pink cardstock:

-4" x 4 1/2" (cut the entire half rainbow and use second largest arch)

The best part about this card is that when you cut these half rainbows from each color, you'll have enough arches to make 4 cards. :)

I think there are three amazing cards here that helped me step outside my comfort zone. And it was super fun! I invite you to make a project with this color combination and share it in my Color Challenge thread on my Facebook page by Friday at noon for a chance to win cards from my stash!

Stamping blessings!

Amy
