Technique Spotlight: Pinwheel

Updated: May 18, 2022

I really can't get enough of the Butterfly Bouquet early release and exclusive products. I know we've had multiple different butterfly stamp sets over the years and multiple different ways to cut them out, but I can't say enough how special these butterflies feel. They're different. Here's a review of what is available now:

It's important to remember that the stamp set and dies are early release products and will be available in the new catalog. The papers are only available until May 3 OR while supplies last.

On March 2, I shared some fun samples using these products. I made some of them and received some of them from a recent swap with other demonstrators. Don't miss those! See them here. On March 3, I was feeling springy so decided to share a simple way to make this pretty pinwheel card. You guessed it! I couldn't help but use the Butterfly Bijou Designer Series Paper and the Brilliant Wings dies to create it.

ree

This cheater pinwheel process is pretty simple. Start with two cardstock squares measuring 2 5/8". Adhere them together, offsetting the points perfectly, using grid paper as your guide to help line them up.

ree

Cut four 1 1/4" squares of Designer Series Paper (DSP) in one design and four 1 1/4" squares in a coordinating design, so that you have 8 squares total. Choose one square to start, put adhesive on one corner of it, and adhere it into one of the points on the card stock squares, as shown.

Adhere the next six squares, one in each point of the cardstock squares, overlapping the one that was adhered before it.

ree

The seventh square must be tucked under the first square, on which you placed adhesive only on one corner, in order to finish the pinwheel.

ree

Finish the card by embellishing with die cuts, a sentiment, and Rhinestone Basic Jewels.
