Technique Spotlight: Scored Line Background

Perhaps you know that one of my favorite things since March 2020 has been getting together with fellow paper crafters on Saturday mornings to make a card together. For 10-15 minutes each Saturday, we have a respite from life, as we create together. The fun happens each Saturday at 9:30am Central on my Facebook page. And, of course, because Live events on Facebook are kept until deleted, you can watch any time! My Facebook Lives motto is #liveorlater. This past Saturday, May 14, we used a super simple layout (as is often the case) to create this card:

Before anyone knows exactly what we'll make on Saturday mornings, I do share the cutting instructions earlier in the week so that those who would like to can create as I put the card together live. The cutting instructions for this particular card looks like this:

Note the sweet detail on this card...the embossed stripes, clean and simple. I used my Simply Scored Scoring Tool to do this. Simply put a short end of the piece of 5" x 3 3/4" Basic White cardstock at the top left corner of the Simply Scored and score a line at 3 1/4" and then again at 2 3/4". Turn the cardstock 180 degrees so the other short end is positioned at the top of the Simply Scored and do the same. This leaves the perfect strip of white across the middle for your pieces of Designer Series Paper.

I kind of fell in love with this card layout, so much so that I had to make another; this one more masculine. And what better masculine suite is there than the brand new He's the Man Suite? Included in the Suite Collection:

  • He's All That stamp set

  • All That Dies

  • He's the Man Specialty Designer Series Paper (with 2 sheets of amazing die cuts!)

  • Rustic Metallic Adhesive Backed Dots

I love that our Suite Collections can be ordered with one easy order number. The He's the Man Suite can be ordered with number 159083, for just $68. Isn't it great?

After cutting my supplies according to the Stamp Together Saturday instructions, here is my creation. I LOVE THIS SUITE SO MUCH!!!

I decided to create a video tutorial for this card to make it super simple to put together. You can watch it on my YouTube Channel or right here!

For a list of supplies I used, along with links to my online store. I also hope that you will consider joining us on Saturday mornings at 9:30am Central!

Stamping blessings,

Amy
