This is the year for resurrecting old projects to make them new again. It has been years since I've even thought about making a gift card holder out of an envelope, but why not bring back the simple and last minute-worthy idea? Honestly, why has it been so long since I've made these?
The outside doesn't seem so clever, but wait til you see the inside and how this was made!
Step 1: Fold an envelope in half.
Step 2: Open the flap and cut the right half of the flap off.
Step 3: Seal the left side of the flap
When you've completed these three steps, you'll see a pocket appear that works perfectly for a gift card. All that's left is to make this dull envelope look pretty!
The order which the decorating is done doesn't make much difference EXCEPT the ribbon tie closure should go on first. Fold the gift card holder shut, and add a little adhesive across the middle on front and back to adhere your ribbon.
I decorated the front of the gift card holder first. Here are the paper measurements for this section:
Ever Eden Designer Series Paper:
-2 5/8" x 4 1/8"
Evening Evergreen cardstock:
-2 3/4" x 4 1/4"
Basic White cardstock:
-3" x 1/2", cut with the Banners Pick a Punch
After using the Pine Tree Punch in the Evening Evergreen piece, I ran the leftover piece (and the tree I punched out) through the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine with the Timber 3D Embossing Folder. I layered that embossed piece over the Designer Series Paper using Stampin' Dimensionals, then popped the sentiment up with Dimensionals, as well.
In the inside of the gift card holder, I kept things simple, too.
Ever Eden Designer Series Paper:
-2 5/8" x 4 1/8"
Evening Evergreen cardstock:
-the tree I punched out and embossed for the front of the card
Basic White cardstock:
-Label Me Fancy Punch, popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals
On the back side, I just covered up the ribbon with more DSP and Evening Evergreen cardstock.

Don't forget to add your gift card after writing your little message on the white part left on the inside of the envelope!
