Pretty things are pretty things, whether they are in a catalog or used to be in a catalog. On Tuesday when I started preparing for What's Up! Stampers? on Wednesday, I knew for certain I wanted to use what I dubbed "one of the most beautiful products in the January-April 2023 Mini Catalog." That product was the Fine Shimmer paper, which comes in three colors: Fresh Freesia, Soft Succulent, and gold. My gosh, it's beautiful, but no picture I could post here could ever do it justice.
With that choice out of the way, I also knew I wanted to emboss that paper, using one of Stampin' Up!®'s embossing folders. But which one? There weren't any that made my heart sing, but suddenly I found myself wishing our Bouquet of Love Hybrid Embossing Folder from last year's January-June 2022 Mini Catalog was still available. It embossed and cut at the same time and came with extra dies for perfect coordination (as is Stampin' Up!'s custom). And then I remembered...the Clearance Rack! Yes, indeedy, this hybrid embossing folder currently sits on the Clearance Rack for a crazy awesome discount.
Turns out - as suspected - the shimmer paper and hybrid embossing folder are a match made in heaven. Using the folder, I cut out the heart and embossed the 5 1/4" x 4" piece of Fresh Freesia Fine Shimmer Paper at the same time.
My desire to use a new stamp set from the JA23 Mini Catalog took over, so I grabbed the Country Bouquet stamp set, stamped the floral and leaf images in the middle of a piece of 5" x 3 3/4" Basic White cardstock using Fresh Freesia and Soft Succulent ink. I layered that onto my Fresh Freesia card base, then the shimmer paper on the top. The extra floral and leaf pieces are from dies sold with the Hybrid Embossing Folder. Because the stamped heart doesn't fill the entire cut out heart, those flowers and label help to fill in the heart's white space. Watch me put this card together on my Facebook page.
