I'm not trying to deny my love of leaves anymore, and I'm certainly not going to hide my leaf stamps. They are here for the fall, whether you like it or not! What I discovered on Wednesday during What's Up! Stampers? is that most of you like it. Fall colored leaves seem to be a favorite, so I'm not going to be apologizing for using them again and again. One of my go-to fall-feel stamp set is the Gorgeous Leaves Bundle, featuring the Gorgeous Leaves stamp set and the Intricate Leaves Dies. They are found in the July - December 2021 Mini Catalog, and they are absolutely beautiful!
I have made a few cards with this bundle, one of which I featured in a blog post not too long ago, on August 22.
Another, which I used as a swap in one of my early Mini Catalog swaps.
I love LOVE them both, but I had to use the bundle again to make another. As I've admitted in the past, sometimes I just need a little bit of inspiration, and most often that inspiration comes from a card layout I hunt down on Pinterest. This one, by Stamping with Julie Gearinger, caught my eye, for whatever reason.
Here's my take on the layout, with just a few minor tweaks along the way.
I started with a piece of 2 3/4" x 3 3/4" Very Vanilla, as the size shown in the card sketch. I turned the cardstock on its diagonal, and, using my Simply Scored tool, I scored parallel lines in the entire piece every half an inch (note that I goofed a bit on this one and went off the track briefly. I'm human, right?).
Then I turned it on its diagonal in the other direction and scored it that direction every half inch, as well, creating a grid.
I then stamped the leaves on the side of the cardstock where the grid was "pushed in" to the paper so that the indented lines wouldn't receive the ink. I used a blending brush and Crumb Cake ink to soften the color of the Very Vanilla cardstock just a little more.
The cardstock sizes I cut are as follows:
Crumb Cake cardstock:
-5 1/2" x 8 1/2"
-Label from the Tasteful Labels Dies
Merry Merlot cardstock:
-4" x 5 1/4"
Merry Merlot Designer Series Paper (as shown in the card layout I was copying):
-1 3/4" x 4"
Very Vanilla cardstock:
2 3/4" x 3 3/4"
