Butterfly Gala: One last hurrah

I remember when the stamp set, Butterfly Gala, became available in the Occasions catalog (now January-June Mini) several years ago. The suite became so popular that much of the product was on backorder for weeks. Such a fabulous idea, to have a duet of butterflies in different designs and coordinating punch to quickly create beautiful, fluttering projects. Everyone fell in love, and I was no different. And now, we must say good-bye.

Today when I looked at these products again, I couldn't stop thinking about how adorable these butterflies would look with our new 2021-2023 In Colors, specifically Fresh Freesia, Pale Papaya, and Polished Pink.

Saying good-bye to the last chance items typically isn't that difficult for me, but I do like to try to use the stamp sets one last time. So, because I love making plaids out of the Buffalo Check background stamp, I pulled that out, too. First I inked it in Pale Papaya and stamped it on a piece of 3 7/8" x 5 1/8" Basic White cardstock. I know - it looks a little bubbly, probably because of the brand new ink pad being super juicy.

Next I used the brush tip of the Polished Pink and the writing tip of the Fresh Freesia Stampin' Write Markers to add stripes to make it a super cute plaid. Don't forget the ruler in this step, to get a perfect (and sweet, I might add) little plaid.

I found a cute card layout by Marty Shumaker that I just HAD to copy, so I did like Marty, and used the Curvy Dies on a piece of 3" x 5 1/2" cardstock. I chose Polished Pink.

Next, I used one of the lovely sentiments from Butterfly Gala and embossed in white.

After stamping and punching out some butterflies in Fresh Freesia ink, I cut a piece of 4" x 5 1/4" Pale Papaya cardstock and 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" Polished Pink cardstock for the card base and put it all together to look like this:

Oh, and don't forget the glitzy 2021-2023 In Color Jewels coming in the new catalog on May 4. They were the perfect addition to this card - the last I will probably ever stamp with Butterfly Gala or the Buffalo Check background stamps. A little sad, but it's ok. There are new butterflies. ;)

Stamping blessings!

Amy
