Alternate Paper Pumpkin Project: January 2026

Hey friends! I couldn’t wait to share this alternate card I made with January’s Special Delivery Paper Pumpkin kit. This kit has such a pretty vintage postage, love-letter feel, and it’s been so much fun to play with. With just a few small layout changes—and a little extra cardstock—you can give the kit a completely different look. Don't worry...this card is still quick and easy to make, but it feels polished and a little extra special.

The Special Delivery kit really has my heart. It’s perfect for Valentine’s cards, happy mail, or anytime you want to send a little love. The pieces in this kit are also very flexible, which makes it a great one for alternate projects. You’re not locked into one specific layout or idea, and that’s always a win in my book.

For my alternate, I started by creating a vertical card base using Bubble Bath cardstock cut to 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" and scored in half at 4 1/4". This soft pink color works beautifully with the kit pieces and gives the card a fresh starting point. To add a little interest to the front, I created an angled opening by cutting the card front from 1 1/2" from the upper right corner to the bottom right corner. That simple angled layer adds dimension and fits perfectly with the vintage, postal-inspired feel of the kit.

I cut a 4" x 5 1/4" card layer from one of the Paper Pumpkin card bases, then added the same angle to the front of that I used on the card base above. I took the two triangle pieces I cut off the card and layer, adhered them together, and added them horizontally to the bottom of the card to really make it unique.

The floral die cut from the kit becomes the focal point of the card. I layered the flower with the greenery so the leaves and buds peek out around the edges. I love how this makes the design feel full and intentional without adding bulk.

For the inside of the card, I added a Basic White cardstock layer cut to 4" x 5 1/4", giving plenty of room for a handwritten message. Then - by cutting (and embossing) a piece of 1 1/2" x 5 1/2" Crumb Cake cardstock in half diagonally from upper left to lower right - I created a nice border for the inside layer.

This is my favorite kind of alternate project—simple, practical, and easy to recreate. You’re still using the kit pieces you already have, just pairing them with a few extra cardstock layers to change up the layout, and a few Loose Frosted Dots to finish it off.

It’s also a very versatile design. You could easily swap out the sentiment, change the focal image, or even use this layout for other Paper Pumpkin kits or other products you have at home.

Extra Supplies Used

In addition to the January Special Delivery Paper Pumpkin kit, here’s what you’ll need:

  • Bubble Bath cardstock: 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4"

  • Basic White cardstock: 4" x 5 1/4" (inside layer)

  • Crumb Cake cardstock: 1 1/2" x 5 1/2", cut diagonally from upper left to lower right, then embossed using the Exposed Brick 3D Embossing Folder and the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine.

  • Loose Frosted Dots

I had so much fun creating this alternate card with the Special Delivery kit. It’s classic, pretty, and perfect for sending a little love through the mail. If you enjoy stretching your Paper Pumpkin kits and trying new layouts, this is definitely one to try.
