Technique Spotlight: White Ink Watercoloring

Updated: May 18, 2022

One of my favorite stamping things during the week is What's Up! Stampers? I love it because I get to chat with viewers about, well...what's up in the world of Stampin' Up!® and in the littler world of Stampin' Nut (that's me). :D

This past week we chatted about the opportunity we have during Sale-a-bration to get our hands on a very special, very beautiful stamp set called Calming Camellia.

Stampin' Up! calls this a distINKtive stamp set. Here's what to expect from Distinktive stamps:

Get photo-realistic style images with Distinktive stamps, available only from Stampin’ Up! Distinktive stamps have a special texture that gives added depth and dimension in a single step. They’re available in red rubber and photopolymer; look for the Distinktive icon. Distinktive patent pending.

To me, the shading of a Distinktive stamp is crazy amazing and produces unbelievable results.

There is a technique that people everywhere are doing with this gorgeous stamp set, and I call it White Ink Watercoloring. I've used the technique before, but never EVER have I seen it produce such beautiful results like it does with this stamp set.

First, I stamped the floral image in Gorgeous Grape ink on Highland Heather cardstock. Then, I dipped a Blender Pen right on the Whisper White ink pad and used that ink to color the flowers. Those flowers are turned magically from Highland Heather to white.

Three 10" lengths of Gorgeous Grape Sheer Ribbon tied together into a bow makes a fabulous addition to the floral bouquet.

I truly can't take my eyes off the finished project.

Cardstock measurements are as follows...

Gorgeous Grape:

-5 1/2" x 8 1/2"

Highland Heather:

-3 1/2" x 4"

Basic White:

-3 5/8" x 4 1/8"

-4" x 5 1/4" (for the inside)

For a complete list of supplies used on this card, as well as links to my online store, check out the bottom of this blog post.

If you'd like to watch as I make this card, you can watch that What's Up! Stampers? video from this week.

How to get your Calming Camellia stamp set

I stated that we can get this amazing stamp set during Sale-a-bration. It is exclusive to hosts with a $300 party, but there are several ways you can be a host.

  1. Make a $300 purchase from our catalog

  2. Have a Facebook party, where friends will order from your party so you can earn things for free, including this Calming Camellia stamp set

  3. Have an in-home party, if you live in the area, where you can invite friends to stamp with us...and once they use the product, they'll want to order some product and get you to that $300 party

  4. Have a "book" party, where friends can simply order from my online store, and you can earn free product, with little to no work for you!

Contact me with your questions. I know you want this stamp set!

Stamping blessings,

Amy
