Truthfully, I think we use techniques every single time we stamp. Some of these techniques you might not even think are techniques, but I think that's just because we get so used to things that we do all the time. The way we ink up our stamp or apply our adhesive could even be considered our technique to do so. However, when we chat with people who maybe don't do a whole lot of stamping, they get lost in our jargon and the way we do things...our techniques.
At first I wasn't sure I'd consider what I'm sharing today an actual technique. But it really is. Simply put, this technique outlines the way I put color to my stamp in this particular project.
I'm calling it Sponge Dauber Shading, and it's one of the simplest things ever.
Step One: ink the dahlia stamp with Crushed Curry ink
Step Two: use a sponge dauber to apply Cajun Craze ink in a few spots on the flower...add the color right on the stamp
Step Three: stamp the ink to paper
That's it? Yep, sure is! so very simple, with such beautiful results! It sure doesn't hurt the Delicate Dahlias stamp set is a distINKtive stamp. According to Stampin' Up!, here is the description of distINKtive stamps:
"Get photo-realistic style images with Distinktive stamps, available only from Stampin’ Up! Distinktive stamps have a special texture that gives added depth and dimension in a single step. They’re available in red rubber and photopolymer; look for the Distinktive icon."
It's amazing to me how a stamp can stamp so beautifully, the proof is in the stamped image. Kudos to Stampin' Up! for these amazing stamps. It's their design that does the trick, which takes my menial talent out of the picture. And just look at the beautiful shading that happens when using the sponge daubers to add color!
