Why Now's the Time #6

My very first experience with Stampin' Up!® was as a CUSTOMER. I was living in Anchorage, Alaska, at the time, and a friend of mine had a Stampin' Up! workshop. I went mostly for the social part of it, but I was also curious. I'd always been a crafter: cross stitching, sewing my own clothes, quilting, and a wide variety of other types of crafts. I think I was late to the party, but I don't remember why. It was a unique party - the demonstrator had lots of her supplies out, and we could just come up and try them out and create to our heart's content. So I played a little, but mostly I was enthralled by the catalog and all of the stamps and colors and tools that were in it.

Somewhere along the way, I heard about Sale-a-bration - then called Sell-a-bration - and couldn't believe that I could get a free stamp set with a $50 purchase. What a deal! I have loved each and every Sale-a-bration since because, well, free is always good.

Soon I came to realize that being a HOST was the way to go. I could have friends over, my demonstrator (and later upline), Lisa, did a demonstration and wowed the crowd. We were able to make a project, and I received host benefits and free dollars based on the sales I had at my party. We called them "workshops" then. Very official. I was able to collect entire color families of ink pads for free by being a host, and I loved being able to grab any color ink when creating.

Finally in 2001, when I was pregnant with our first child, and I knew I was quitting teaching to stay home to raise our child, I decided signing up as a Stampin 'Up!® demonstrator was a perfect option for me. We moved to Minnesota, I had Owen, and embarked on my journey of being a DEMONSTRATOR.

I enjoyed it all: being a customer, a host, and then a demonstrator. But do you know what the most amazing thing is about being a demonstrator? Even after signing up, we can still be all three: Customer, Host, and Demonstrator.

When a demonstrator places an order, he or she will receive a nice 20% discount. During Sale-a-bration, that demonstrator can place an order that retails for $50, get the 20% discount, and STILL get to choose a free Sale-a-bration item. How does that work? Spend $40 but still get the benefits of a $50 order? That's amazing!

But wait! There's more!

When a demonstrator places an order that retails $150 or more during Sale-a-bration, that demonstrator can choose more than one Sale-a-bration item, AND receive the host benefits of $15 more in free product. SAY WHAT? The demonstrator spends $120 (plus shipping and tax) on $150 worth of product, chooses 3 SAB items, AND gets the host benefits all at the same time? INCREDIBLE!

I don't know about you, but I honestly don't know of a direct sales company that allows consultants to shop the customer specials (SAB), get host benefits, AND the consultant discount all in one order. It's a pretty sweet deal...especially when your wish list is long!
